Departure of a long standing commercial tenant operating a newsagents left me with an empty property and no rent being paid. I contacted Miles Waterman who are my accountants and after a site survey they advised me to change the usage of the property to a fish & chip shop since there were none in my area.
Having had no previous experience in the food industry Miles Waterman managed the entire lifecycle of the project from obtaining planning permission from the council, assigning an architect, design of shop and fish range, negotiating with multiple vendors on equipment, creating a brand and marketing material & shop signs, ordering stock and introductions to suppliers, finding and training staff, and ensuring everything ran smoothly when the shop opened for business.
It took seven months from our first meeting to us opening the shop to the public. It was amazing that we achieved so much since we had to start from the basics from a building perspective. After six months in operation, I sold the business and we achieved the return of investment proposed by Miles Waterman.
